I am grateful for Fanny Howe. Her poems are exact and intelligent—rare gifts to the ear both musically and syntactically. Howe's poetry takes on the difficult and painful journey of a spirit which comes to no rest, and is relieved, finally, only by wit. I value her work as much as any poetry being written.
